A Course Lesson Plan

A lesson plan puts the focus on a single activity. It provides guidance on the overall objectives of the activity, how the students will accomplish this, and how the instructor will know that the activity was successfully accomplished.

Lesson plans are documents with important details. The lesson plan is often developed and kept for the instructor’s use. In some cases, elements of the lesson plan are shared with the students.

The following are elements which are in a typical lesson plan:

  • Overall Goals
  • Objectives
  • Prerequisites
  • Materials
  • Description
  • Procedure
  • Evaluation/Assessment

Many institutions require that a course syllabus is available to everyone.
